why the big controversy over baptizing the dead, they are dead folks..i know it's a quirky practice but jewish leaders are up in arms because the lds leaders are baptizing holocaust victims..what harm is it??
?hell jw's are preaching everyone will go up in flames no one believe that crap except jw but no one is up in arms, they know they walk a different step....the lds leaders agreed to halt baptisms specifically of jews holocaust victims in 2010 but they are at it again, baptizing jews.

I have actually known about that practice and thought the same as you - it's funny as hell. Why would you baptize dead people who were not inclined to join your religion when they were alive? Especially people who were horribly tormented because of their faith ( not LDS).
The LDS have a whole other level of crazy going on. Even if I am dead I might be upset if I became Mormon. 😀
we were all told when we were in the watchtower that we should be grateful to be part of such a loving family.

Yes I have found my place. I am happy. I think you need to broaden your horizons, if everyone you know is a drug addict and has no ambition. Finding commonality with people doesnt mean you have to agree on everything or believe exactly the same thing. Get involved in your community. I volunteered at the animal shelter, did Habitat for Humanity, Soroptomist, and other groups. I also joined rec league sports. I went to college. So many "worldly" people have shown kindness throughout my journey.

i just stopped going and was never announced as ''no longer one of jw's''.
I moved thousands of miles away, so was mostly left alone. 2 of my relatives, didn't move, and were stalked and harassed and DF even though they hadn't been to meetings in years. Moving is always best if you can.
i never got into trouble with the elders.
i served on judicial committees too many times.
i am happy that i no longer have to "judge" whether someone is a "sinner" any longer!

i'm all for religious freedoms.
i am not for a religious organization demanding freedoms from the government that they in turn take away from their own members.
why should the organization get religious freedom when they take that very thing away from it's members?.
I don't know that I agree they should be banned. But I also feel like they bring this shit on themselves, so I don't feel bad for them either. I think the saddest part is that she has to look for someone passionate about a religion. Instead of being passionate about her, shared hobbies and real interests.
1.there are times when a doctor decides that the only life saving medical treatment -short of a miracle- is a blood transfusion.
in such a case, what should be done when a person refuses treatment on religious grounds and why?.
2. should a person be allowed to "mutilate" his body and why?.
People should be allowed to make their own informed decisions. If people refuse blood or mutilate their bodies it is none of my business.
However when a religion mandates and coerces that course of action - I have a problem. Most rational people can make decisions, and adjust those decisions as situations develop. The Jehovah's Witness religion make the decision for people (no blood) without regard to the situation at hand, and allow for no change in the decision regardless of the information presented.
